BAND PACKAGING
Adobe Illustrator

This project focused on speculative design, where I identified a problem and developed a solution to address it. The idea was to create a wearable armband for athletes that tracks hydration levels. The band changes color to visually indicate hydration status, and the data syncs with a mobile app that tracks statistics over time.

I began by developing an identity for the product, starting with the logo. The logo features a twisted design to reflect the elastic nature of the band, reinforcing the brand’s core concept.

The project also involved designing the packaging. I created a custom dieline for the box, incorporating a cutout on the front to showcase the elastic material of the band. Additionally, I included clear, step-by-step instructions on how to connect the band to the app on the back. To enhance the user experience, I designed a card inside the packaging with a QR code for easy app download and instructions on how to wear the band properly.

APP SYSTEM

The next phase involved developing the app to pair with the band. Since the band connects to an app for tracking hydration, it was essential to design a seamless user interface. I created a home screen that displays the band’s current status and provides easy access to other sections of the app, along with an icon system at the bottom. Additionally, I designed a stats screen to track hydration levels over time. To enhance personalization, I also included a customization feature that allows users to change the band’s color, enabling them to match it to their school colors or select any preferred hue.

BUS SIGN ADVERTISEMENT

The next step was to create a bus stop advertisement targeting college athletes, the core audience for this product. Since college students frequently use public transportation, I felt that bus stops would be an effective advertising medium. The design features typography that curves around an arm, visually representing the band itself. I aimed for a bold, attention-grabbing design to ensure it would stand out to any passersby. Additionally, I included a QR code for those interested in learning more about the product.

INSTAGRAM POST

Additionally, I designed an Instagram post to promote the band. Since Instagram is the most popular social media platform among college students, I chose it as the primary advertising channel. The visuals feature athletes in a gradient, with the band standing out in its own distinct color. The post also includes a tagline and brief descriptions to highlight key features of the product.

BRANDING ELEMENTS
Adobe Illustrator

The final step was to create branded merchandise. I developed the tagline "Time to Hydrate," designing the text to appear as though it’s filled with water, reinforcing the brand’s focus on hydration. I chose to create a water bottle, as it aligns with the brand’s core concept, and also designed a t-shirt and athletic tank. These apparel items could be used in university sponsorship deals, further promoting the brand within the target audience.
