ISU ATHLETICS

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS LOGO

I designed the t-shirt logo for the ISU 2023 Conference Champions. While I created designs for multiple sports, only the Women's Golf version was produced. I was provided with the required information and logos, and from there, the design was left to my creative direction. It was a fun challenge to balance creativity while still honoring the design standards of the athletic department.

I began by sketching ideas on paper, then translated those sketches into digital form. After vectorizing the logo, I received feedback from my supervisor, which led to some minor revisions before finalizing the design. To give the design a unique touch, I added a "ball" illustration for each sport. For the golf design, I vectorized an image of a golf ball and made custom adjustments by hand to enhance the result.

This project involved working within the university’s existing brand guidelines to create social graphics for the ISU Division 1 Disc Golf Team. I started with a team graphic featuring all the team members together. I chose to use action-packed poses of the athletes to create a dynamic and engaging visual, encouraging viewers to spend more time looking at the design.

I focused on the hierarchy of text and its relationship to the imagery, ensuring that the design was both visually appealing and easy to read. Once I was satisfied with the team graphics, I translated the key design elements into a new file for individual player graphics. I adjusted the text and included personalized details for each player while maintaining consistency with the design choices made for the team graphic.

VARIOUS PROJECTS
Adobe Photoshop / InDesign / Illustrator
NIL GUIDELINES 8.5” x 11”
NIL GEAR 1080 x 1080 px
TICKET VOUCHER 3” x 5”
ONE LAST THING 750 x 250 px
SEE HER BE HER 96” x 36”

I worked on a variety of projects for the athletic department at Illinois State University, including web advertisements, ticket vouchers for thank-you cards, NIL guideline handouts, and the "See Her Be Her" poster for National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The "See Her Be Her" poster was completed in a single day, providing valuable experience in the fast-paced world of athletics design.

Each of these projects involved research into athletic design styles. I studied previous designs approved by ISU as well as those from other universities to inform my work. With this research in mind, I was able to design with intention, focusing on text hierarchy and readability, while still incorporating my own creative voice—all while staying true to the university’s brand guidelines.

Additionally, I created social graphics for the club disc golf team, including announcements for our new sponsor, our trip to nationals, and team tryouts. Each graphic is designed on a case-by-case basis, maintaining consistent branding styles while not being directly tied to the official brand guidelines. However, like my other internship projects, I still conducted research to ensure the designs aligned with the appropriate tone and aesthetic of disc golf collegiate social media.
